Widefoot — Brand Story
Widefoot is a US-based bicycle accessory brand founded in 2014 by two friends, Hunter and Marc, with a clear mission: design and build simple, durable hardware that supports active, bike-centred lifestyles. From the start, the brand has focused on cargo cages and bottle holders that are both functional and thoughtfully engineered, aimed at riders who use their bikes for everything from daily commutes to multi-day bikepacking trips.

All Widefoot hardware is designed and manufactured in the USA, with most production centred in Colorado. That local, small-batch approach shows in the details: clean forms, precise anodised finishes, and mounting patterns that prioritize real-world adjustability and compatibility. The brand’s product names—LiterCage, CargoMount, MiniMount—reflect a no-nonsense philosophy: make gear that disappears into the background and just works, ride after ride.

CargoMount and the Evolution of the Cargo Cage
Widefoot’s breakthrough came in 2019 with the CargoMount Classic, a one-piece aluminium cargo cage that quickly became a reference in the bikepacking world. At just around 66–74 g depending on size, it offered a very light yet rigid platform for carrying bottles, small bags and cylindrical gear on frames and forks with three-bolt mounts. Its signature 7-slot mounting pattern allowed fine-tuned positioning on a wide range of bikes, making it a go-to choice for riders who wanted more flexibility than a standard bottle cage.

In 2024, Widefoot updated the design with the new CargoMount line, available in Regular, Mega and MiniMount sizes. The key innovation is the removable, bolt-on “CargoNoodle”: a hollow aluminium tube that acts as a load-support foot at the bottom of the cage. This modular platform is stronger than the original one-piece design, can be removed to accommodate different cargo shapes, and is replaceable in case of damage. The updated cages also feature an improved mounting pattern with slots and holes that allow angled mounting and even the option to run the cage upside down or add extra accessories.

Alongside the CargoMount family, Widefoot offers the LiterCage, a stainless-steel bottle cage designed specifically for large-diameter bottles like Nalgene and other wide-mouth containers. Like the cargo cages, it uses the 7-slot mounting system for flexible positioning on frames and forks, and is built to resist corrosion and withstand heavy use. Together, these products form a compact but highly versatile ecosystem for adding cargo and hydration options to almost any bike.

From Bottle Cages to Bikepacking Hardware
What started as a focus on bottle holders and simple cargo cages has evolved into a broader role in the bikepacking ecosystem. Widefoot’s cages are now commonly paired with soft bags, dry bags and custom luggage, and the modular CargoNoodle and BagNoodle extensions explicitly position the brand as a partner for bag makers and riders building custom load-outs. The result is a brand that bridges the gap between traditional bottle cages and full cargo systems, offering lightweight, USA-made hardware that turns any three-bolt mount into a capable gear-carrying point.
